Overall risk assessment

The Management Board bases its assessment of overall risk on the risk management system used by Fresenius Medical Care, which is regularly checked by third parties and by the Management Board. The effectiveness of the risk management system used is monitored and improved, if necessary, as part of the Company-wide review of the integrated management system. The Management Board will continue to expand our risk management and its review of the associated management system to be able to identify, investigate and assess potential risks even more quickly and implement appropriate countermeasures. Based on the general principles for estimating risk factors, we currently assume that none of the risks mentioned will significantly impair the assets, financial and earnings position of Fresenius Medical Care in the long term. Furthermore, no material changes to risks were identified compared to 2009. From an organizational point of view, we have established a structure that will allow us to quickly identify emerging risk situations.
